Gavin Wiseman obtained a BSc Degree in Building Management from the University of Cape
Town, a MPhil Degree from the University of Pretoria and completed the University of
Witwatersrand’s Graduate School of Public and Development Management:- Housing Policy
Development and Management Programme. He has over 25 years’ development experience in
the subsidised and affordable housing market, including over 10 years’ experience as a
development manager within the social housing sector. He has worked within the NGO sector,
and within Local Government, as the Head: Project Coordination, within the City of Cape Town’s
Human Settlements Department, coordinating and managing the implementation of low-income
housing projects and the upgrading of informal settlements. He currently serves as the Director
of Affordable Housing, within the Human Settlements Branch, of the Western Cape Department
of Infrastructure. He has a passion and dedication to making a meaningful contribution in
addressing the lack of access to affordable housing accommodation in the Western Cape.
