With 16 years’ experience as the Director of Communications (formerly the Department of Human Settlements), currently Public Information and Stakeholder Relations for the Department of Infrastructure at the Provincial Government of the Western Cape.
He possesses a unique professional portfolio that illustrates his ability to lead the development of innovative strategies that optimise communication with relevant stakeholders, with a specific focus on educating and engaging them on the work of his department and the broader Western Cape Government. As a public participation director for his department, he is highly experienced in creating and executing programmes for diverse audiences. A visionary leader of cross-functional communication and stakeholder management professionals, he has a deep understanding of communication and public participation best practices. He has a proven track record in managing the department’s image in community engagements and other interactions, thus maintaining public trust.
Early in his career in the private sector, he worked for one of the leading financial services providers Old Mutual as a Marketing Specialist for several key investment products. He also had a successful stint at the advertising agency Young and Rubicam where he served as a public relations executive and worked on accounts that included Independent News, Enron, and Sentech to mention a few.
He holds a B Tech in Marketing obtained from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and has also completed the Harvard University Executive Management Development Programme.
To ensure a healthy balance between work and leisure, he is an avid golfer, who portrays immense love and passion for the sport. He has played socially on various “greens” locally and internationally.
